Five works of Hovnatanyan were also shown at the exhibition "Armenian Art from the Kingdom of Van to the Present" organized in Paris in 1970. Commenting on this event, "Le Monde" newspaper wrote: "All the works were watched with unceasing admiration. Hakob Hovnatanyan's portrait of Natalia Teumyan, "Armenian Gioconda", can captivate even the most capricious artist. The artist has created a deeply musical and poetic character."
